A quiet, earthy tea mat pieced from handwoven cotton in warm brown, charcoal, muted grey and natural beige. The textiles combine persimmon dyeing, tie dye, soft gradient dyeing and katazome-style resist dyeing, creating naturally varied tones and an aged wabi-sabi character.

The rust-brown panel features four forms of the Chinese character “福” (Fu), a traditional symbol of good fortune, happiness and blessings. Layered patches, visible hand stitching and softly frayed edges are intentionally preserved as part of the slow-made design. Natural variations in the dyed cloth make this piece distinctly individual.
